BANGKOK —An escalation of violence in Thailand has left the nation in mourning after a 14-year-old student opened fire at the Debsirin Nonthaburi School on the outskirts of Bangkok.
The tragedy claimed the lives of eight individuals in total, including the teenage perpetrator, and left over 30 others wounded, with nine fighting critical injuries.
Unfolding Horror Across Two Locations
Police investigations revealed that the teenager's violent spree began at his family's residence, where he shot and killed his grandparents using a 9mm handgun registered to his grandfather.
The bodies were only discovered later when authorities searched the home following the school attack.
Arriving at the prestigious Debsirin Nonthaburi School shortly after 10:00 local time, the boy entered the campus and systematically targeted faculty members. Five teachers were killed before the gunman took his own life.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul addressed reporters at the scene, stating that the attack was meticulously organized.
"The attack was well prepared with clear steps and clear goals," Prime Minister Anutin said, noting that the shooter still possessed more than 30 rounds of ammunition when he died by suicide. Police sources indicated that preliminary information from a close friend suggests the teenager had been under intense academic pressure.
Students and educators recounted harrowing scenes of survival. Witnesses described hearing rounds strike the floors directly overhead, sheltering under classroom desks, and scaling fences to escape the gunfire. In the wake of the disaster, school administrators announced that the Nonthaburi campus will remain closed for the following week.
