RAMU (COX'S BAZAR) — Law enforcement authorities in Ramu, Cox's Bazar, have arrested six Chinese nationals linked to an international online fraud ring.

During the operation, police confiscated 1,938 iPhones, around 40 laptops, desktop computers, and advanced electronic equipment.

The arrests followed extended intelligence monitoring. Police conducted coordinated raids across several hotels near the Marine Drive coastal road after receiving targeted leads.

Sources said a formal case has been registered at the Ramu Police Station under the Cyber Security Act, and the suspects have been remanded to judicial custody by a local court.

Core Details of the Investigation

  • Blocked Passports & Escape Attempts: The suspects had previously been blacklisted, with their passports blocked by immigration authorities. Despite travel alerts issued at major exit points, they remained trapped in the country while attempting to flee.

  • Cover Story Unraveled: Upon initial questioning, the suspects claimed to be in Bangladesh for local infrastructure projects. However, multi-agency verifications by specialized investigative teams in Dhaka exposed the claims as false.
