Attended by new students along with their parents, the event marked the start of what is expected to be an exciting and challenging academic journey in architecture. The participation of family members added warmth to the occasion and underscored the importance of family support as the students begin university life.

Ar. Shahriar Iqbal Raj, Chairman of the Department of Architecture at NSU, opened the formal program with a welcome address. He highlighted the significant role architects play in shaping the built environment and influencing the quality of human life.

Encouraging the newcomers to make the most of their studies, the Chairman urged them to pursue their academic journey with creativity, dedication, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Faculty members of the Department of Architecture also addressed the newly admitted students, sharing their professional experiences and academic insights. They familiarized the students with the department’s collaborative and dynamic learning environment while offering words of encouragement.

During their interactions, the faculty members stressed the importance of creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and continuous learning as essential elements of architectural education.

To mark the beginning of their journey into architectural design, each of the 45 students was presented with a sketchbook and a pencil. Symbolizing the fundamental tools of architectural design, the gifts represented a blank canvas on which the students can develop their future ideas, creativity, and architectural aspirations. The initiative also reflected the department’s encouragement for students to nurture design thinking and creative expression from the outset of their studies.

Following the formal proceedings, the students and their parents toured the Department of Architecture’s facilities, including its studios, workshops, exhibition spaces, and other academic facilities where the students will undertake their design and learning activities.

The tour allowed the newcomers to familiarize themselves with their new academic surroundings and gain a clearer understanding of the facilities available to support their architectural education.

Faculty members and administrative staff of the Department of Architecture attended the orientation and welcomed the new students and their parents.

The program ended with closing remarks from the Chairman and a warm welcome to the Fall 2026 cohort, providing a positive start for the students as they prepare to commence their studies at North South University.
